As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, the HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) Act was passed to provide finnancial incentives to eligible providers to adopt Electronic Health Records. To qualify for these financial incentives, providers must demonstrate "Meaningful Use" using certified Electronic Health Record modules.
